WoW: 3-Man Molten Core
December 29, 2007
Boredom was what led us to Molten Core, really. That, and curiosity. “I wonder how far we could get if we tried to three-man MC? Turns out the answer is “Quite a lot further than we thought possible”.
For Molten Core Veterans an undertaking like this - even at Level 70 with Tier 6 Equipment - does not sound like a walk in the park. But against all odds those three players not just killed a few trashpacks, but cleared the entire instance up to and including the final Boss Ragnaros (former title Firelord - now Firewuss).

While reading Massively’s coverage about the recent Age of Conan press Event in San Francisco, I’ve stumbled about a interesting detail which I can’t remember to have heard about earlier.
Because of the level of violence present in the game they are shooting for a “Mature” rating in the states and similar rating elsewhere because with an AO rating they’re going to be locked out of retail chains pretty much all over the world. Funcom is currently in talks with the seven most important game rating boards of the western hemisphere to agree on certain levels of violence and adult content that have to be met to be published under the desired local rating. What’s interesting is that AoC will enforce the levels which have been agreed upon using server side content filtering based on the IP of the client. I think we’ve got a precedence case here. Here’s what Jørgen Tharaldsen, product developer on AoC, had to say about this in his own words:
“It will be server-side. Through your IP we can control what kind of content you’ll see, so let’s say you come from Germany, you might not see all the fatality moves, but we hope you will see all of them, we’ll know soon when we hear back from the ratings boards, whereas in the US you might not see nipples. But you probably will see nipples in Norway, for instance.”
