You’ll notice between these fellows is a basket with four bottles of home-brewed Mead as a thank you from Shaun (DarkTreader) and his thoughtful mom, Karen Dean (Taelanna). Interview with Fallen Earth Lead Game Designer, Lee Hammock

Having spoken to both Vivox about their VOIP technology and Icarus Studios about their middleware solution we had a quick chat with Lee Hammock, Lead Game Designer for Fallen Earth, which uses Icarus middleware for its development. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic North America and is at the time of publishing, without a release date. [Source]

BioWare adopts Stream Processing Engine

BioWare has licensed StreamBase’s Stream Processing Engine for use in it’s unannounced MMO. StreamBase has previously provided Complex Event Processing software to financial institutions as well as the government and military sectors.

Complex event processing, is a new technology where a software system supervises events streaming through the enterprise’s software infrastructure. Complex event processing has also caught the attention of U.S. intelligence agencies, which have made a strategic investment in Lexington, based StreamBase Systems through In-Q-Tel, the independent investment firm that supports technologies of interest to the CIA. The amount was not disclosed.

World of Starcraft not in the works

Blizzard’s Chris Metzen confirmed that the company is currently not developing World of StarCraft. So while “Team 3″ is most likely working on an MMO (given the recent next-gen MMO related Job openings at Blizzard) it is based on a different IP. [Full story]
